New Logo & Banner

Logo ~ September 2016
Sew Geeky Crafts is proud to show off our new logo and banner.

I wanted something simple, but also something that represented me, somehow.

I just started to explore Adobe Illustrator, and am currently 4 days into a 7 day trial, with the intention of purchasing a subscription at some point soonish.  Having never used the program before, and with the last time I did any graphic design being over 20 years ago, I needed just a little bit of help getting a logo into place for the immediate future.  To the rescue is this amazing site I've recently discovered, Canva.

Canva has a ton of different options to make logos, announcements, blog post cover pages, you name it, Canva can do it, and mostly for free.
Check it out, it's a ton of fun and I've been having so much fun with the simple interfaces and all the designing options.

Back to the new logo though.  The Penguin, glasses and button all represent something about me or this page.  The penguin is because I love penguins, they are basically my spirit animal.  The glasses are because I wear glasses, and are quite often considered to be "geeky",  and the button, well, that was the best option I had available that I could find in Canva to represent the "crafts" of Sew Geeky Crafts.  Turns out I kind of like the button.  I haven't decided if the button will stick around though once I've recreated the logo in Illustrator.  Only time will tell.

Hope you like it, I sure do.

Yet another blog

I need anther blog like I need a hole in my head.  No really, I already have two other blogs that I rarely contribute to so why am I making another one?  Well, I like to waste time procrastinating (as one of my other blogs Procrastination Proficiency will tell you).  This time however, instead of another random blog about nothing, I'm going to write and post about my various DIY crafty projects that I've done.

You may be wondering how often I'll blog, and the likely answer is not that often.  You see I'm one of those type of people that have at least 5 projects on the go at any one time.  I'm currently working on a 1 secret crochet project, 4 other crochet projects, which include a temperature blanket, a shopping bag holder a Harry Potter scarf and yet another secret project, 2 cross stitch projects, 1 quilting project, 1 sewing project and 1 beading project.  YIKES, that's a lot of projects, way more than five, and I didn't even include the projects I've purchase materials for and haven't started nor the projects that are still floating about in my head space. So as you can imagine, updating and posting on this newest blog will likely be few and far between, but who knows, maybe I'll be inspired.

Loki "helping"
As for the name, Sew Geeky Crafts, well, I came up with part of it for a sewing group that I've started with some friends, and then I expanded on the name. With "sew" as part of the name you might think that all the crafts I'll talk about will be sewing related, well that will not be the case. See above paragraph for proof of my jumping around working on various projects. However I did like the name and there will be some sewed projects so that's what I went with.

The first project I'll be writing about is some lovely tiles coaster I made. Stay tuned, eventually.

I also have "helpers" when crafting, and they'll likely be a big feature in my future postings. If you'd like to follow in the adventures of my helpers, Loki & Vader you can  check them out on their Facebook page.
